Curtis & Windham Architects

Since 1992, architecture firm Curtis & Windham has been building or preserving Houston’s most distinguished and historically significant residences. Known for their masterful integration of classical architectural principles with an understanding of contemporary living, the firm approached us as they prepared to publish their second book with Rizzoli. They were ready for a new website and refreshed branding, and we gave thoughtful consideration to their legacy as we developed a brand identity that brings a fresh perspective forward. On our first visit to their Houston office, founders William Curtis and Russell Windham gave us a tour of their built work and projects in progress—an immersive introduction to their architectural ethos. Their office, lined with floor-to-ceiling framed hand drawings of their projects, spoke volumes about the care and craftsmanship that define their practice. That artistry became the inspiration for a signature design element we introduced on their project pages: as users scroll, two images part to reveal a hand-drawn sketch, a subtle nod to the firm’s hands-on, deeply considered approach. Bill and Russell were engaged collaborators who allowed us to take the time to learn about their team, work, and process. The relationship we built fostered a level of trust that allowed for some of our most inspired and creative work to emerge.
